What are Orthotics?

Orthotics are custom made foot insoles, that are made specifically for your feet and body. Your body’s biomechanics may not be perfect, and custom made orthotics take these considerations into account, and balances your body from the ground up. Orthotics are commonly used to treat conditions including but not limited to:

  • Foot pain – plantar fasciitis, bunions, arch pain, metatarsalgia, Morton’s neuroma, fractures, amputation, tendonitis, arthritis, and more.
  • Leg pain – Shin splints, Achilles’ tendonitis, tibial stress syndrome, peroneal tendonitis, muscle strains, and ligament sprains.
  • Knee pain – Patellofemoral pain syndrome, patellar tendinopathy, iliotibial band (ITB) syndrome, bursitis, ligament sprains, muscle strain, and arthritis.
  • Hip pain – Arthritis, ITB syndrome, bursitis, muscle strain, ligament sprain.
  • Lumbopelvic pain – back strain, degenerative disc disease, malalignment, leg length discrepancy.

At our clinic, all of our chiropractor is highly experienced and qualified to perform biomechanical and gait analysis to determine your necessity for orthotics.

If you suffer from any of these conditions and want to get the  benefit from custom orthotics, set up an appointment today.

At our office we use a combination of gait analysis  and 3D foam casting. Basically, we will have you stand on, and walk over a pressure sensitive pad with thousands of sensors in it, and those sensors will digitally map out your postural habits, and analyse your gait (how you walk). It then generates a report telling us how perfect (or imperfect) your feet are, and design an orthotic insole to correct these issues.

We combine this with a 3D casting of your foot to accommodate for any other imperfections. These results are sent to the lab, where only the highest quality materials (specified to your needs) are used, and your brand new custom orthotics are sent back to you to use.

How Much Do These Cost, and Will my Insurance Cover This?

All orthotics in our office are $500.

The cost for the orthotic is paid in full before the order is sent, and takes 2-3 weeks from the date the order is sent until pick-up.

Depending on your insurance coverage, you may be able to get this cost reimbursed. When you pick up your orthotics there will be a number of materials and forms included in the package, which should be all of the information about the product that your insurance company would need to reimburse you.

Note: Some insurance companies require a prescription from a Medical Doctor to get reimbursed for your orthotics, some may only require the prescription from your chiropractor, so please read your insurance plan ahead of time.
